ALIEN : SPECIAL ORDER
A machinima animated Alien fan film which sees a team of Weyland-Yutani employees sent into a Xenomorph hive, with familiar orders to “Bring back life form. Priority One. All other priorities rescinded.”

Our Verdict
ALIEN : SPECIAL ORDER is entirely created in Valve’s Source Filmmaker engine, a program that essentially allows you to animate in real-time using video game assets (modern day machinima). This means that animation isn’t photo-realistic (and the character models have been pilfered from various video games) but it’s got a great sense of atmosphere and creative use of lighting and visual filters makes it look realistic at times (and way better than any of the CGI in Alien 3). It’s a very impressive film, especially considering it was made on a budget of nothing by one person. There’s a nice mixture of action, gore and horror during its six minute play-time, the Giger style backgrounds look fantastic and it’s nice to see an Alien Queen make an appearance. Pretty sure Weyland-Yutani aren’t going to be getting their life form though!
