Our Verdict
This is a classic fan film which the director made as a pitch to Warner Brothers for a full official movie. He didn’t get his movie, but it did evolve into Mortal Kombat: Legacy, a well received web series that was around for 2 seasons. The dark and gritty world of Mortal Kombat: Rebirth is a far cry from the OTT ridiculousness of original movies (and the games they’re based on) but it works well and still provides plenty of fan service, with seven classic characters making an appearance and they even manage to drop in a couple of famous catchphrases; “Finish Him” and “Fatality”.

Think I still prefer the original (cheesy) movies, but it's an interesting take on the MK universe.
