Our Verdict
An old 80’s arcade shoot ’em up may be an unlikely subject of a fan film, but RETRO ARCADE ANIME: R-TYPE is excellent. Much like Paul “OtaKing” Johnson’s other work, the Anime styled animation is superb and it’s a joy to sees that iconic ship and baddies (especially the boss) from the original game brought to life so perfectly. A fantastic little animation that does justice to an arcade classic.

Excellent animation of a classic arcade game, well done!
This needs to be a TV show! That animation is incredible and it perfectly recreates the vibe of the original game. Would love to see it done with more classic arcade games.
